"I had to know and understand my own story before i could listen to and help other people with theirs." Obama said it, but does it not work for us all? We try every day, we are looking for our personal leitmotiv. And on a societal or organizational level we try to find our vision (the future), the bigger picture and the meaning and consequences of that vision.
Story Collecting is Story Building
Story Collecting Sessions are also available on an individual level. Because by listening to your personal stories we continue probing into the core, the source of your motivation, your inspiration, your expectations. What does it mean for you and what does it mean for your organization? Why do desire you so much 'that way'? What do you "see"? In short, what is your vision? If you don't 'see' it, how can you make others see 'it'?
Story Development
From your stories emerges an authentic personal story you can share, with which you really connect with others. Because people do want to go along with the story of the other. If it makes sense and gives meaning. If it stimulates imagination (imagining = seeing = vision), if it provides confidence, trust and - at least - understanding.
Story Engagement
Authentic and compelling stories* lead to action, to imitation or participation. If one gets imagination going, one no longer listens and admires passively, one becomes inspired and involved (engagement). Storytelling is a pull strategy in the most positive sense. Stories enable identification, ethics, identity, compassion, faith, confidence, respect and hope.
